  • Mission Statement

    ATEN is a program of UCPA of Greater Chicago established in June of 1995 in partnership with the IL State Board of Education. ATEN is a statewide effort aimed at recycling valuable and much needed technology for education.ATEN’s goals are 1) To create and maintain a database of special education assistive technology devices 2) To provide access to technical assistance through a peer-to-peer network of educators experienced with a specific kind of AT and.or disability through an internet searchable database. 3) To increase access to AT through donations of used computers, peripherals, alternative devices and communication devices from corporations and individuals.

  • Project Abstract

    The Assistive Technology Exchange Network (ATEN), a program of UCP–Infinitec, was established in June of 1995 in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). ATEN is a statewide effort aimed at recycling valuable and much needed technology for education. ATEN’s primary goal is:

    To increase access by students with disabilities to assistive technology by reconditioning/rebuilding donations of used computers, peripherals, alternative input and communication devices from corporate and individual sources.

  • Target Population

    Special Education students throughout the state of Illinois. Any type of disability will apply. The teacher, parent or special educator can fill out the on-line application and submit to ATEN for processing.
