Mission Statement
M-A High school is a public school serving a very needy population in East Palo Alto and Redwood City. Most of our students are on the free or reduced lunch program, and many have no access to computing. Over the past 10 years, we have refurbished more than 4000 computers and sent them home with our hard-working, deserving students so they can use the computer to type homework and do internet research.

When we send a computer home with a student, we deliver it, set it, up, plug it in, and teach the students how to use it. We also install free internet (when available) and show them how to go online to send and receive email, and to email homework assignments to school. We also show the parents how to use the internet to check on their student’s attendance, grades, and pending homework assignments.
Project Abstract
We refurbish old computers, load software on them, and send them home with needy students who otherwise would have no access to computing except at school. We securely erase all data on the hard drives that are donated, before loading fresh software onto them.
Target Population
Our students are in grades 9-12, and we only send computers home with low-income students. Most of these students have younger siblings at home. When we install a computer, then the entire family learns how to use it, not just the high school student. So the entire family benefits from the donated computer.
